A digital curriculum in 2022-23: uLaw EDU

The autumn 2022-2023 academic term is fast approaching and this is the time of year that we often hear from educators who are eager to secure access to certain types of software for the paralegal/law clerk curricula for the year.

To date, uLawPractice is the most widely-taught legal accounting and practice management automation software across Ontario paralegal colleges.

Ontario paralegal colleges are especially interested in guaranteeing (to varying degrees) that graduating students have a sound knowledge of what compliance and accounting activities they'll be expected to uphold when actually licensed.

uLawPractice continues to forge partnerships with even more schools. The company offers all academic institutions (paralegal colleges, law schools) exclusive academic access to Canada's most powerful and compliant digital legal assistant.

uLaw is recognized as a provider of legal education according to the Law Society of Ontario. Recently uLaw's many instructional videos were cited as a resource for 'learn at your own pace' education at the LSO-funded legal tech centre.

uLaw CPD Guest Lectures

uLaw also offers a wide range of CPD accredited guest lectures which instructors can choose from. Take a look below.

^ We have a similar course offering for the 2022-23 term and will be circulating scheduling documentation to eligible EDU contacts.

Courses range from "Everything Practice Management" to intricate accounting lectures which differentiate between trust and general accounting in the context of being a legal business owner and administrator.

The uLaw Curriculum

uLaw can provide a framework for exercises and grading for faculty and an opportunity for students to learn compliance and audit preparation measures necessary to run a legal business. Along with academic access, uLaw is offering educational materials to colleges and universities which can be incorporated into the curriculum.

In uLaw's browser-based environment, students can work in a real-world interface on their digital devices (mobile, desktop, laptop, etc) to produce all books and records necessary to pass a practice audit. This will be indispensable knowledge for when students enter the workforce.

Compliance is key

Nearly a decade ago, our company's award-winning compliance coding team (CCT) used thee then-LSUC's own bookkeeping guidelines as a blueprint to develop the backbone of uLaw's interface. The software has continually evolved to keep in line with the LSO's guidelines, and also from regulatory changes by Canada's federal tax regulator, the Canadian Revenue Agency.

uLaw keeps its users compliant and ready for an audit at all times. It's also rich in features such as court form automation, docketing, conflict screening, and more. Check out the video below to get a good understanding of what we strive to provide users.
