uLaw 2025 Calendar Update

In 2025, the uLawPractice engineering team introduced a small but impactful enhancement to its calendar module with the release of the Team Calendar feature. This update aims to improve intra-firm scheduling transparency and operational coordination by enabling a firm-wide, real-time overview of all personnel activity.

Called the "Team Calendar", this new view mode shows what each person in the team is doing all at the same time.

"The main goal for our developers was to make it easier for firms to actually visualize the daily activities of each constituent member of a multi-partner, multi-user law firm using uLaw. So, for example, different members of the firm will be able to see the specific tasks related to legal matters in uLaw," says CEO of uLaw, Terry Curtis.

Curtis also explained that there are a lot of other calendaring features provided by major companies such as google, Microsoft, and so on. "The main difference is these email-based calendaring systems aren't actually aware of your legal matter; uLaw contains data directly tied to your legal matters; meaning that users aren't left connecting the dots about what people are working on."

A Smarter Way to See What Your Team Is Up To!

The idea for the new Team Calendar didn’t come from a boardroom—it came from a real firm using uLaw. Our engineering team recently received feedback from a longstanding client at uLaw based out of Vancouver, who reached out with a simple request. "It would be nice if I could quickly see what everyone else is doing, without having to go and check individually through our email provider, just simply doing it without trouble, switching programs, and lining stuff up."

It’s the kind of thing that happens all the time in a busy legal practice. Let’s say a partner wraps up a quick call with a client who needs to reschedule their 2:00 PM meeting. The client can now meet at 3:00 PM instead. With the new Team Calendar, the lawyer can update the meeting time right in the calendar, and it’s instantly visible to everyone else at the firm—no emails, no follow-ups, no guesswork. And all of it is relative to all the other facets of running a legal business.

This is the part where uLaw's Calendar takes a step beyond what major email/calendar providers (the likes of Google, microsoft, etc) can't provide; and that's docketing, analytics, contact management from the perspective of a legal firm.

uLaw goes a step beyond your typical calendar platform, specifically when it comes to docketing. With the uLaw calendar tied into your practice management and accounting system, that simple reschedule isn’t just a calendar change—it’s a billing update. The time spent with that client, even if moved around during the day, is automatically docketed and linked to the right matter. uLawPractice users may log in as they normally do; and then visit the Calendar button on the left-hand column of the screen.

Then, in the top right-hand section of the screen there is a tab for "Team Calendar"
